Alabama A&M University women's basketball looks to extend their winning streak as the Lady Bulldogs (8-8, 3-2 SWAC) face Alcorn State in a 3 p.m. game Saturday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.  

Lauren McKee had a career-high 27 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to their third straight Southwestern Athletic Conference win as they defeated Alabama State, 78-69, on Jan. 13 in the Montgomery, AL.

McKee also recorded five rebounds, four steals and three assists in the win. Nigeria Jones scored 14 points and Natalie Collins added 11 points. Kanisha Tharpe led the team in rebounds with eight and added seven points in the win.

The Lady Bulldogs are ranked fifth in the SWAC standing right above Alcorn State. Jones leads the team with 8.8 points per game followed by Ashlyn Dotson who averages 7.9 points per game. Tharpe leads the Lady Bulldogs with 6.5 rebounds per game and is fifth in the league in the category. Dotson is third in the SWAC with a .470 field goal percentage. McKee is fifth in assists in the league averaging 3.3 per game.

Alabama A&M enters the weekend shooting 353-988 (35.7 percent) from the field, including 61-247 (24.7 percent) from beyond the arc, and 144-239 (60.3 percent) at the free-throw line.
 
LOOKING AT THE LADY BRAVES
The Lady Braves (7-10, 3-3 SWAC) are on a two-game winning streak after defeating UAPB on Monday, 80-77, as Miracle Rushing led the team with 21 points followed by Alexus Freeman who netted 15 points. Jada Hargrove and Tia Sander each added 13 points. Rushing made it a double-double with 15 rebounds and five steals.
 
Sanders is the top scorer at 16.9 points per game, followed by Alexus Freeman at 15.2 points. Sanders leads with 45 three-pointers made while Rushing is the leader on the glass with 8.4 rebounds. Defensively, Freeman leads with 72 steals (4.2 per game) and  each own 23 steals and Cloe Lane has 11 blocks.
 
Alcorn state shoots 416-1129 (36.8 percent) from the floor, 105-344 (30.5 percent) from distance, and 178-291 (61.2 percent) at the charity stripe.

Last year, the Lady Braves won 73-57 in Elmore Gym. on Jan. 23 and earned a 71-42 victory Feb. 20 in Lorman, Miss.
