JACKSON, Miss.--- After starting off conference play with a 71-64 victory at Grambling State on Monday Evening, the Alabama A&M men's basketball team continues Southwestern Athletic Conference play at Jackson State Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's match.

Alabama A&M enters Wednesday's game against Jackson State with a 1-13 record. In their last outing on Jan. 1, The Bulldogs rolled to a seven-point win against the Tigers of Grambling State. De'Ederick Petty led the team in scoring with 18 points, followed by Marcus Merriweather who contributed 12 points for the Bulldogs.
 
Mohamed Sherif, Evan Wiley and Andre Kennedy each grabbed six rebounds, as AAMU won the battle of the boards, 42-37. The Bulldogs were 46.9 percent (23-of-49) from the field, 41.1 percent from behind the arc (7-of-17) and 69.2 percent from the free throw line (18-of-26).
 
Petty continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 11.4 ppg. He is sixth in the league with a .814 free throw percentage (48-of-59). Andre Kennedy leads the Bulldogs in rebounds with 6.0 rpg.
 
In the 14 games played this season, Alabama A&M averages 59.2 points while shooting just 39-percent from the floor. From beyond the arc, the Bulldogs are responsible for 34-percent shooting and 65-percent from the charity stripe.

Jackson State enters Wednesday's game with a 4-10 overall record after an 82-73 win over Alabama State on Monday. Jeremiah Jefferson had 21 points and Paris Collins added 16 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Tigers in their conference opener.
 
The Tigers enter the match shooting 37-percent from the field, 34-percent from the three-point line and 65-percent at the charity stripe. Maurice Rivers is the leading scorer on the team posting 12.5 points a game, while Paris Collins has a team-high 5.9 rebounds and is second in scoring with 11.3 ppg.
 
The last time these two programs met was on March 2, 2017 when the Bulldogs fell 74-64 at Jackson State.
 
The Bulldogs will continue SWAC action on Saturday, Jan. 6 when they host Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
