Jenkins added to Jerry Rice Award Watch List

CHICAGO — Brian Jenkins Jr. has made a splash in his Alabama A&M debut season.

Football fans across the nation now are taking notice.

Jenkins has been added to the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award watch list.

The Jerry Rice Award is presented to the top freshman in the FCS.

Jenkins is one of 15 players to make the award's watch list.

Jenkins, a 5-foot-6 and 165-pound receiver from Daytona Beach, Fla., leads Alabama A&M with 332 receiving yards and a touchdown on 28 catches (11.9 yards per catch). He also has rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and his averaging 20 yards per touch on kickoffs.

Since 2011, three players who won the Jerry Rice Award have gone on to play in the NFL.
