Women's Basketball to host "Think Pink" game against Alcorn State

HUNTSVILLE– The Alabama A&M women's basketball team will host its annual "Think Pink" game on Saturday, Feb. 17 as they take on Alcorn State at 4 p.m. in T. M. Elmore Gym. In addition, fans are asked to show their support by wearing pink to the game.

This game is a great way for Head Coach Margaret Richards nd the Lady Bulldogs to help the Women's Basketball Coach Association initiative in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond, as well as raise funds for the breast cancer research.

LOOKING AT THE LADY BULLDOGS
The Lady Bulldogs (9-14, 4-8 SWAC) fell in their last home game, 55-44, to Alabama State on Feb. 10.

Ashlyn Dotson led the Bulldogs with 15 points and added three rebounds. Aubriana Bonner contributed with a team-high eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Dotson leads the team in scoring win 8.7 points per game. Followed by Nigeria Jones 7.7 points per game. Kenisha Tharpe leads the team with 6.2 rebounds.

Alabama A&M enters the weekend shooting 493-1397 (35.3 percent) from the field, including 90-379 (23.7 percent) from beyond the arc, and 195-318 (61.3 percent) at the free-throw line.
 
SCOUTING THE LADY BRAVES
The Lady Braves (10-14, 6-7 SWAC) took their sixth conference win against Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Feb. 12. Alexus Freeman led the team in the 76-58 win with a game-high 22 points followed by Miracle Rushing who grabbed 16 rebounds.

Tia Saunders leads in scoring with a team-high 15.7 points per game followed by Freeman who averages 14.8 points per game. Rushing leads the team in rebounds with 9.1 rebounds per game.
 
The Lady Braves shoot 580-1545 (37.5 percent) from the floor, 143-464 (30.8 percent) from distance, and 255-437 (58.4 percent) at the charity stripe.
