GAMEDAY: Bulldogs host Southern in SWAC doubleheader

HUNTSVILLE, AL– The Alabama A&M University men's and women's basketball teams host Southern Jaguars in a doubleheader at Elmore Gym. The women tip at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

Women's Preview

WHAT TO KNOW
- The Lady Bulldogs (10-14, 5-8 SWAC) earned to a 74-63 conference win over Alcorn State at Elmore Gym on Saturday evening.

-Ashlyn Dotson led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points. Nigeria Jones (15) and Natalie Collins (14) also scored in double digits for Alabama A&M. Collins led the Lady Bulldogs with eight rebounds and Aubriana Bonner grabbed seven boards and four assists. Jones also led the team with five assists.

- Dotson leads the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 9.1 ppg and 1.5 steals. Tharpe leads the team in rebounds with 6.7 rpg. Nigeria Jones leads the Lady Bulldogs in assists (3.0 apg).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Southern (12-11, 11-3 SWAC) lost their last game on the road at Alabama State, 58-56. Briana Green led the Jaguars with 15 points and five rebounds.

- Green also leads Southern in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (6.7) per game.

- The Lady Bulldogs loss their last matchup against the Jaguars by a score of 77-62 in Baton Rouge, LA on Jan. 22.

Men's Preview

WHAT TO KNOW
- AAMU (2-21, 2-11 SWAC) dropped their last game against Alcorn State, 80-60, Saturday evening.

- Tracy Burnett led AAMU 15 points and four rebounds. Arthur Johnson and Jalen Reeder each finished in double-figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

- Against Alcorn State, the Bulldogs shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field, 21.7 percent from the behind the arc (5-of-23) and 75 percent (15-of-20) from the charity stripe.
