Bulldogs Fall in Overtime to Grambling, 84-74

HUNTSVILLE, Al - The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team was unable to hold on to a late lead and eventually fell 84-74 in overtime to Grambling State on Thursday evening at Elmore Gym.
 
The Tigers improved to 16-14 overall and 12-5 in SWAC play, while the Bulldogs fell to 2-28 and 2-15.


AAMU led 68-59 with 2:59 to play in regulation before Grambling used a 11-2 run to tie the game at 70.

Andre Kennedy connected on a layup before making a free throw to pull the Bulldogs ahead three points. With one second on the clock, Grambling's Ivy Smith Jr. knocked down a three at the buzzer to tie at 73 and send the game into overtime. 

In overtime, the Tigers opened with a jumper before De'Ederick Petty  went 1-of-2 from the free throw line. Up 75-74, Grambling used a 9-0 run to secure the win
.

Kennedy and Petty lead the Bulldogs with 13 points each and Arthur Johnson contributed 12 points. Julian Walters led AAMU with seven rebounds.
 
Smith led the Tigers with a game-high 32 points, while DeVante Jackson added 22 points and Jason Perry-Murray contributed 12 points.
 
The Bulldogs will return to Elmore Gym on Saturday as they host Jackson State on Senior night for the last game of the 2017-2018 season. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
