Baseball Falls to Tennessee Tech, 12-8

HUNTSVILLE– Alabama A&M baseball scored eight runs on 13 hits, but it was not enough as Tennessee Tech walked away with a 12-8 win Wednesday at Bulldog Field.

Each team was held scoreless the first inning, before the Bulldogs scored two runs in the second inning after
Richard Polinsky hit a solo homer to left field and Jonathan Smith II's hit by pitch with bases loaded advanced Lemuel Lackey. The Golden Eagles then scored one runs in the third followed by another Bulldog run in the bottom of the third.
 
Tennessee Tech added their first homerun of the game in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to tie the game at three. The Golden Eagles would then hit a single up the middle in the fifth to move head, 4-3.
 
JT O'Reel opened up the bottom of the fifth inning with a homerun to left field to tie the game. After two fly balls to centerfield, Tyus O'Neal-El singled up the middle and stole second. Lackey walked followed by a Joannes Diaz doubled down the left line to advance Lackey to third and score O'Neal-El. With two on base,
Brandon Moore singled up the middle to score Diaz and Lackey to put AAMU up, 7-4.
 
Tennessee Tech countered with four runs in the top of the sixth and the Bulldogs added a run in the inning to tie the game at eight. The Golden Eagles plated three more runs in the game, which led them to a 12-8 victory.
 
Shortstop O'Reel went 4-for-5 with two runs, a double and a RBI. Designated hitter O'Neal-El was 3-for-5 with one run and two RBI. Third Baseman Lackey finished 1-for-3 with two runs and two walks.

Fernando Diaz Jr. (0-1) pitched 2.0 innings and took the loss.
