Bulldogs Win Series Finale, 12-7, Against Alcorn State

LORMAN, MS- The Alabama A&M Baseball team closed out its three-game series against Alcorn State with a 12-7 victory on Sunday Afternoon.
 
The Bulldogs (12-37, 9-15) got off to a fast start in the first inning with three runs to start the game. After Carson McGregory singled to score Carlton Peppers and Jonathan Smith II, O'Reel scored on a Braves error.
 
Alcorn (12-34, 7-17) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI single to left field. The Bulldogs added to its 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth with seven runs on five hits and a pair of errors, which included a two-RBI single from Peppers, a RBI double from O'Reel and a two-RBI double from Betancourt. The Braves were able to get four runs back in the bottom half of the frame.
 
The Braves pulled to within 10-6 with a run in the eighth, but AAMU answered with two more in ninth with Peppers reaching on an error by shortstop and Mitchell singling to right to score McGregory. Alcorn scored their last run on a double play in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough for a comeback as the Bulldogs took the series 2-1.  

Jose Figueroa (2-2) got the win for the Bulldogs, pitching a complete nine innings, allowing 16 hits and seven runs – six earned – walking two and striking out two.
