Men's Basketball Head to Ohio to face the University of Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio __ Alabama A&M will tip off game three of the 2019-20 men's basketball season on Thursday night as the Bulldogs visit the University of Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena. The contest will tip at 7 p.m. CT and will also be televised on ESPN3.

This matchup will mark the first ever meeting in series history between the two teams.

About A&M
  • Alabama A&M finished the 2018-19 season with a 5-27 overall mark and a 4-14 record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference play, which tied for ninth overall.
  • Head coach Dylan Howard, who served as an interim last season, is looking to continue to improve as he welcomes his second season as head of the program.
  • The Bulldogs were predicted to finish eighth in the conference this season, according to the SWAC preseason polls.
  • Freshmen guards Cameron Alford and Garrett Hicks led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points and 12 points respectively in the 52-74 loss at UAB on Monday.
  • Five of the six top scorers for the Bulldogs so far this season are freshmen, with Alford (14.0 ppg) and Hicks (10.5 ppg) both averaging double figures.
  • On the season, Alabama A&M is shooting 38 percent from the field and averaging over eight steals per game
 
About Cincinnati
  • Cincinnati's 81-59 win over Drake improved the Bearcats' all-time record in home openers to 86-11, including a 26-2 mark inside Fifth Third Arena. The victory was the first of the John Brannen coaching era at UC.
  • The Bearcats fell on the road at No. 18 Ohio State 56-64 to open the season. Junior Keith Williams and Senior Jarron Cumberland led the team with 13 points each in the loss.
  • UC grad transfer guard Jaevin Cumberland entered Tuesday having made at least one 3-pointer in 35 consecutive games, including at least one in every game last season.
  • Cincinnati plays a school-record eight games in November this season, with the 2019-20 season opener on Nov. 6 at No. 18 Ohio State marked the earliest start to a season in school history.
  • This year, Cincinnati plays three games in a season before Nov. 15 for only the third time school history (2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons).
