Memphis holds off AAMU women's basketball in final non-conference game

MEMPHIS — Madison Griggs scored 21 points as Memphis held off Alabama A&M 79-71 Monday night in a women's basketball non-conference game.
 
Memphis (9-4) led by 12 at one point in the second period, but Alabama A&M (4-7) charged back in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 23-14 in the third period to pull within three.
 
DeShawna Harper led Alabama A&M with 30 points and three steals. Dariauna Lewis finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Nigeria Jones added nine points. Tierra Dark scored eight.
 
Alana Davis scored 15 points with eight rebounds for Memphis.
 
Alabama A&M travels to Grambling State on Saturday open its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule.
