BIRMINGHAM — Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim made a significant impact in his debut season with the Alabama A&M football program.

Everyone in the Southwestern Athletic Conference noticed.

Now Ibrahim has the credentials to prove it.

Ibrahim has been tabbed as the SWAC Freshman of the Year as the conference released its 2019 postseason football awards.

This season's all-SWAC honors had a notable Alabama A&M flavor. Ten members of the program were all-conference selections.

Alabama A&M (7-5) had four players receive first-team all-SWAC honors.

Senior running back Jordan Bentley and Ibrahim, a freshman wide receiver, were first-team selections on the all-conference offense, while sophomore defensive end Marcus Cushine was a first-team selection on defense. Junior placekicker Spencer Corey was a first-team selection on special teams.

Bentley closed out his collegiate career with a record-breaking season. The 6-foot-1 and 217-pound senior from Guntersville, Ala. — the 2016 SWAC Freshman of the Year — rushed for an Alabama A&M single-season record 1,483 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Bentley now holds seven Alabama A&M records: Single-season rushing yards, career rushing yards (3,204), single-game rushing yards (245), rushing touchdowns (18), career touchdowns (43), single-season points (122) and career points (260).

Ibrahim, a 6-1 and 190-pound freshman from Miramar, Fla., enjoyed a successful debut season, finishing with 1,004 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on 59 receptions.

Cushine, a 6-2 and 220-pound defensive end from Broward County, Fla., emerged this season as one of the conference's top pass rushers, leading Alabama A&M with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

Corey, a junior from New Palestine, Ind., finished the season 49 of 50 on extra point attempts, and he made 5-of-9 field goal attempts, including a 44-yarder. He was second in the SWAC among placekickers with 64 points.

Junior quarterback Aqeel Glass, junior receiver Zabrian Moore, sophomore tight end Kendric Johnson, senior offensive lineman Shonye Reams and senior offensive lineman Trevoris Butler were second-team selections on the all-SWAC offense, while junior linebacker Armoni Holloway was a second-team selection on defense.

Glass led the SWAC in passing while setting a new Alabama A&M records with 3,600 yards and 32 touchdowns. Zabrian Moore led the SWAC in receiving with 1,057 yards and nine touchdowns on 58 receptions.

Johnson was one of the conference's most effective tight ends, finishing the season with 275 yards and four touchdowns on 24 receptions.

Holloway led the conference in tackles while setting a new Alabama A&M record with 114 tackles, averaging 9.5 tacklers per game. He also led the Bulldogs with 14 tackles for loss.
