Miller leads men's basketball past Mississippi Valley

Box Score HUNTSVILLE — Brandon Miller heard the challenge.

Throughout the week, the Alabama A&M guard was asked by coaches and peers to emerge as more of a scoring threat.

Well, ask and you shall receive.

Miller delivered on the request, pouring in 18 points as Alabama A&M surged past Mississippi Valley State 78-63 Saturday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball game.

Alabama A&M enjoyed a strong offensive performance, shooting 48.3 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

The result was a game Alabama A&M (5-19, 4-6) led almost from start to finish.

Miller made 5 of 10 attempts from the floor, and 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, while Tre Todd and Jalen Reeder each poured in 14 points. Andre Kennedy finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Gerron Scissum had 11 points and four rebounds.

Jordan Evans had 16 points for Mississippi Valley.

Alabama A&M hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday.
