Mercer opens series with win over Alabama A&M

MACON, Ga. — RJ Yeager drove in four runs as Mercer topped Alabama A&M 21-0 Friday afternoon to open a three-game non-conference baseball series.

Mercer (4-1) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and led by 10 after the fifth inning. The Bears added nine runs in the bottom of the seventh, finishing the day with 19 hits.

Sawyer Gipson got the win on the mound, holding Alabama A&M (0-7) to three hits while striking out seven in six innings.

Jonathan Smith II, Jalen Ford, Richard Polinsky, Trevor Berkmeyer, Dilon Roop and Daniel Tart each had a hit for Alabama A&M.
