Hansell hurs gem; Women's Softball sweeps doubleheader at Savannah State

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Danielle Hansell struck out four while hurling a complete-game shutout as Alabama A&M swept a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Savannah State.

Alabama A&M topped Savannah State 1-0 and 10-6.

In Game 1, Hansell was strong in the pitcher's circle, holding Savannah State to just four hits in the seven-inning complete game.

Alabama A&M gave its pitcher the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Tamia Lee-Barbadillo drove in Jamia Kirk for the game's only run.

Hansell added two hits for Alabama A&M (3-5).

In Game 2, Alabama A&M scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to force extra innings, and the Bulldogs rallied for four in the eighth to get the win.

Lauren Hayden got the pitching win, striking out eight while holding Savannah State to four hits in 5 1/3 innings of relief.

Lisabelle Hansell and Danielle Hansell each drove in two runs on two hits, while Barbadillo drove in two runs on a hit.
