Southern holds off Alabama A&M women's basketball

BATON ROUGE, La. — Alyric Scott just a missed a double-double, scoring 16 points with nine rebounds as Southern held off Alabama A&M 68-60 Saturday afternoon in a Southwestern Athletic Conference women's basketball game.

Southern (14-11, 11-3 in SWAC), which currently sits atop the conference standings, took a 32-28 lead into halftime, and the Jaguars gradually added to the cushion late in the second half.

Nigeria Jones led Alabama A&M (12-12, 7-6) with 12 points, while Tierra Dark scored 10 points with four rebounds.
DeShawna Harper added nine points and four rebounds.
