Alabama A&M reinstates Athletic Hall of Fame

HUNTSVILLE — Alabama A&M University President Dr. Andrew Hugine Jr. announced that the university is reinstating its Athletics Hall of Fame.

"Alabama A&M University has a long and distinguished legacy of excellence in athletics," Hugine said. "This legacy is due to the tremendous supporters, and in particular, the athletes that have played for Alabama A&M in the various sports.

"The contributions which these persons have made, and their excellence, should be recorded for posterity and enshrined in the annals of the history of Alabama A&M University. The usual medium for such recognition is a hall of fame."

Hugine appointed a 10-person committee to oversee the Hall of Fame's nomination processes and criteria.

The members currently serving on the Alabama A&M University Athletics Hall of Fame Committee are Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks, Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Larry McDaniel, Attorney Angela Debro, Board of Trustees member Kevin Ball, former Director of Athletics Betty Austin, Hall of Fame member Sandra Lyles-Jackson, former men's basketball coach Willie Hayes, former football student-athlete Roderick Randolph Huntsville pastor Dr. Isaiah Robinson and Director of Sports Information Justin Graves.

The nomination process for the 2019 class begins on March 1, and nominations will be accepted until the May 15 deadline.

Nominations for the Alabama A&M Athletics Hall of Fame can be submitted to the Sports Information Office via mail at P.O. Box 1597, Normal, AL, or by email at AAMUHallOfFame@aamu.edu.
