Arkansas-Pine Bluff strikes early, holds off Alabama A&M baseball

HUNTSVILLE — Nick Kreutzer hit a three-run homer as Arkansas-Pine Bluff topped Alabama A&M 7-3 Friday afternoon to open a three-game non-conference baseball series.

Kreutzer hit his three-run homer in the top of the second inning to give UAPB (3-18) a 4-1 lead.

That was all the offensive production UAPB starting pitcher Will Smith needed.

Smith held Alabama A&M (6-18) to seven hits while striking out seven through seven innings to get the pitching win.

Dillon Roop led Alabama A&M at the plate with two hits, including a solo homer. Jonathan Smith II added a hit and an RBI.

Alabama A&M hosts UAPB today at 3 p.m.
