HUNTSVILLE __ Despite the fall football season postponement, several publications are releasing preseason All-Conference teams and All-American honors including the yearly Phil Steele Magazine.

The publication recently released their three conference teams for the Southwestern Athletic Conference, where eight Bulldogs found their names listed between the first and second teams. The Bulldogs had five first team student-athletes, tied for the most in the conference with Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Sophomore Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim was named first team offense after a breakout year where he finished second in the league in receptions and yards per game and third in receiving yards and touchdowns. Last year's SWAC Freshman of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference honoree was named the same on the Phil Steele postseason teams along with being named a Jerry Rice Award Finalist and an FCS Freshman All-American. The receiver recorded four multiple score games, along with crossing the 100-yard receiving threshold in five games on the year.

He was joined on the first team by tight end Kendric Johnson, along with defenders Marcus Cushine and Armoni Holloway and kick specialist Spencer Corey.

Johnson sees his name on the first team offense for the second consecutive season, and is the only returning tight end in the conference who had multiple touchdown receptions last season. The junior finished 2019 with 24 receptions for 275 yards and four touchdowns.

Cushine and Holloway are the only two defensive players on the Phil Steele teams for the Bulldogs after great seasons from both student-athletes. Holloway, another two-time 1st team recipient, followed his huge breakout 2018 season with a team-leading 114 total tackles, including 62 solo stops. He also finished second in the conference in total tackles and third in tackles for loss with 14.5, while also accounting for four sacks. Cushine became one of the premier pass rushers in the conference in 2019, as he finished tied for second in the league in sacks with seven, while adding 39 total tackles and 13 tackles for loss. The sophomore also added eight quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups on the year.

The final 1st team selection, Spencer Corey, handled a vast majority of kicking and punting duties for the Bulldogs last season, finishing with 2,230 net punting yards, 18 fair catches and 14 punts landing inside the 20. Corey also tied all SWAC punters for the lead with five touchbacks and even added a 72-yard touchdown rush, the longest run of the season for the Bulldogs, on a fake punt attempt. In the kicking game, Corey made five field goals with his long being a 44-yarder.

Three Bulldogs were chosen to the second team including senior quarterback Aqeel Glass, who passed for a school record 3,600 yards and threw for 33 touchdowns on the season. Not only did Glass lead SWAC signal callers in a number of statistical categories, he also finished fifth in the FCS in passing yards per game, sixth in passing touchdowns, seventh in total passing yards and completions along with 15th in passing efficiency.

Glass was joined on the second team by two of his offensive weapons in receiver Zabrian Moore and tight end Anthony Howard. Moore, also a senior, led the conference in receiving yards with 1,057 and ranked third in receptions with 58 a year ago. He also recorded three 100-yard receiving yard performances and two games with multiple touchdown receptions. Howard, the second tight end to make the preseason team for the Bulldogs, finished 2019 with nine catches for 85 yards, with a three of his catches resulting in scores.

The teams were presented by Phil Steele and the draftscout.com.
