Alabama A&M Men’s Basketball Drops 66-63 Heartbreak Decision at Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama A&M (1-9, 0-0 SWAC) dropped a 66-63 decision at Lipscomb (7-8, 0-0 ASUN) in an NCAA Division I men's basketball game on Thursday, December 30.
 
Junior guard Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) led the Bulldogs with a game high 19 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals while junior center EJ Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio.) had 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Junior guard Cameron Tucker (Birmingham, Ala.) chipped in with 10 points, six boards and five assists while junior forward Jalen Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) had ten points and four rebounds. 

The Bisons built a 21-12 lead with 9:56 showing on the clock before the Bulldogs responded with 6-0 run to close the gap to 21-18. From there both teams would score 11 points each over the next eight minutes and Lipscomb would maintain their three point advantage to go into halftime leading 32-29.
 
LU would start the second half with an 8-3 burst over five minutes to stretch the lead to 40-32 before AAMU would flip the switch and unleash a 16-6 rally to take the lead, 48-46.
 
Lipscomb would respond with a 12-3 run to gain a 58-51 advantage before AAMU would once again take the lead with a  7-0 run burst to tie the game 58-58 with 2:36 left on the clock. The Bisons would pull away for the remainder of the frame with an 8-5 run before closing out the 66-63 victory.
 
Jacob Ognacevic would lead the Bisons with 16 points and eight rebounds, Johnson following behind with 12 points and four boards. Will Pruitt added 11 points and seven rebounds while Ahsan Asadullah finished with seven points and three assists to round out the top performers.
 
Alabama A&M returns to action on Monday, January 3 as they head to Arkansas-Pine Bluff for their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opener. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. at H.O Clemmons Arena.
