BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With one game of college football under his belt, freshman punter Troy Lendvay (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Specialist of the Week as announced by the league on Wednesday, March 10.
 
The Canadian import certainly made an impact in his first game at the collegiate level as he helped Alabama A&M play the field position game and prevent South Carolina State (3/6) from getting any momentum in what would be a 31-7 Bulldog victory.
 
On the day he punted five times for a total of 203 yards, racking up an average of 40.6 yards per punt. Lendvay would land one touchback and belt a pair of punts 50 yards or better, including a long of 59 yards.
 
That one came after A&M's first drive of the game and his other long distance boot was 50-yards in the third quarter that put SCSU at their own 20-yard line.
 
Lendvay and the Bulldogs are back in action when they travel to the State of Texas to take on Prairie View A&M on Saturday, March 20. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
