HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – As the landscape of college athletics continues to change with more opportunities for student-athletes, Alabama A&M Athletics has announced its Name, Image and Likeness policy as well as a "one-stop shop" for all things NIL.
"This is an exciting time for Alabama A&M student-athletes," said Director of Athletics
Bryan Hicks. "As the NIL era begins, we look forward to assisting our student-athletes to improve their potential in today's job market and their opportunity to continue to serve as great representatives of Alabama A&M University and themselves."
Designed to allow individuals to benefit from use of their name, image and likeness rights, the policy is geared towards providing educational resources to student-athletes as well as guidance concerning NCAA regulations as they pertain to NIL.
The policy also lays out ways that student-athletes can be contacted, their responsibilities and the use of agents/professional services, institution intellectual properties and facilities. It also encompasses the "do's and don'ts" for potential NIL opportunities and how those could potentially impact financial aid.
"Name, Image and Likeness has and will continue to change the landscape of college athletics," said Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance
D'Wayne Robinson. "Now that it is here, this comprehensive policy is our latest step towards providing guidance to our student-athletes and a roadmap for our students to maximize their opportunities while also protecting their eligibility to compete in intercollegiate athletics. I personally look forward to the challenge of helping them build a solid foundation for their continued success."
The full
policy, as well as
A&M's Disclosure Form, can be found on the new
NIL homepage, located under Inside Athletics and the Office of Compliance page on
www.AAMUSports.com. These will be the primary resources for the groundbreaking initiative.
Alabama A&M Athletics is among a growing number of institutions developing a comprehensive Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) plan that will benefit student-athletes and is among the first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) to announce such a plan.
