MACON, Ga. – Alabama A&M (0-1, 0-0 SWAC) fell by a 7-0 score at Mercer (2-1, 0-0 SoCon) in an NCAA Division I men's tennis match on Saturday, January 29.
 
MU took the early lead in doubles as graduate Fermin Ruiz Crespo (Mollina, Spain) and Freddie Lawrence fell 6-3 against Samuel Barrow and Andrew Branicki at No. 2 while senior Rodrigo Arana Rios (Playa Del Carmen, Mexico) and Vence Ntcha were defeated 6-3 by David Georgadze and Lucas Wayenburg at No. 1.
 
Danny Flynn and Samuel Macleod posted a 6-1 victory over sophomore Divesh Gahlot (Haryana, India) and junior Natiphat Mulada (Korat, Thailand) at No. 3.
 
After a competitive doubles portion, the Bears wasted no time during singles as Ntcha fell 6-0, 6-0 to Wayenburg at No.1 and Gahlot was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Flynn at No. 3. Two of the Bulldogs most impressive performances came from Rios as he fell 6-2, 6-4 against Georgadze at No.2. and Mulada who battled 7-5, 6-2 before falling to Samuel Barrow in a closely contested match at the fourth spot.
 
Rounding out the day for AAMU was Ruiz Crespo who fought through three sets against Alexandr Kolievbefore falling 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 to close out the 7-0 decision.
 
 Alabama A&M will return to the court on Friday, February 4 at Troy. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
