Alabama A&M Drops 12-2 Decision Against Milwaukee On Final Day Of Three Game Series

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Alabama A&M (0-3, 0-0 SWAC) wrapped up a season-opening series as they fell to Milwaukee (3-0, 0-0 Horizon) 12-2 in an NCAA Division I baseball game on Sunday, February 20.

The Panthers scratched a run early as Conner Goodman delivered an RBI to drive home Luke Seidel for a 1-0 lead. It would stay that way until the third when UWM delivered five RBI singles and a sac fly to expand their lead to 7-0.

Pitching would then rule the next several innings until Milwaukee added three more runs as Seidel doubled down the left field for an RBI that brought Mark Connelly home followed by Goodman's double RBI that saw Mitchlle Buban and Seidel score to extend the lead to 10-0. Neither team would change the score at the end of the sixth.

The Bulldogs would get on the board in the seventh inning as they loaded the bases with freshman outfielder Janmikell Bastardo (Fort Myers,Fla.) delivering a pinch hit single to left, freshman outfielder Nemo Wright  getting hit by a pitch and freshman second baseman Jalen Ford (Birmingham, Ala.) drawing a walk.
That set the stage for graduate outfielder Damani Thomas to bring home A&M's first run when he earned a walk. They would add another run on a groundout by sophomore infielder Chandler Stocking before the Panthers got out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts.

Milwaukee added a run on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth and an RBI single from Mitchell Buban in the ninth to reach the eventual final margin of 12-2.

Goodman led UWM with a 2-of-6 day that included four RBIs and one run scored while Buban was 2-of-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Seidel went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two walks and three runs and Chapman went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to round out the top offensive performers. AJ Blubaugh started and threw six innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out six to start the season 1-0.

Stocking led the Bulldog with an RBI, two walks and a stolen base while Thomas added an RBI and two walks. Bastardo went 1-for-1 and scored a run and sophomore catcher Dillon Roop (New Market, Ala.) laced a double. Freshman pitcher Avery Seaton (Huntsville, Ala.)  threw 3.1 innings, striking out four and sophomore Khari Caver (Riverdale, Ga.) suffered the loss to fall to 0-1.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, February 22 as they face off against UT-Martin. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bulldog Field.
