Alabama A&M Delivers 13-12 Decision Against LeMoyne-Owen

MADISON, Ala. - Alabama A&M (6-24, 3-12 SWAC) delivered a barrage of runs in both the first and second inning to help fuel a 13-12 decision over LeMoyne-Owen  (4-22 2-14 SIAC) in an NCAA Division I baseball game on Tuesday, April 19.

In the first inning the Bulldogs would scratch the scoreboard as freshman left fielder Janmikell Bastardo (Fort Myers, Fla.) singled to left center to bring home junior third baseman Tommy Easley (Acworth, Ga.) before freshman second baseman Jalen Ford (Birmingham, Ala) singled to short stop and Bastardo scored. Graduate center fielder Nemo Wright (PG county, Md.) would then hit a single two RBI to allow both Ford and sophomore first baseman Trevor Berkemeyer (North Las Vegas, Nev.)  to score for a 4-0 lead.

The Magicians would then respond in the top of the second inning with five runs off just two hits to switch the flip and take the advantage by one before AAMU would unleash a barrage of runs. Bastardo singled to left field and brought home graduate right fielder Tim Dixon (Debary, Fla.) before Berkemeyer doubled to left center a three RBI that brought home Bastardo, Easley and junior catcher Jared Tribett (Lumberton. Miss.). Berkemeyer would score the final run of the inning for a 9-5 advantage.

In the top of the fourth inning the Magicians would add one run as DeAnthony Baker stole home to close the gap by two. Neither team would affect the score until the top of the sixth as LOC responded with Baker scoring on a fielding error to cut the lead by one. They would then capitalize in the top of the eighth inning as Emari Mills scored on a balk to even the game 11-11.

The Bulldogs would then respond in the bottom of the inning as Berkemeyer tripled to left center to bring home Easley before sophomore catcher Dillon Roop (New Market, Ala.) allowed Berkemeyer to score and lead by two. The Magicians would answer in the top of the ninth and final inning with a run from Jo Williams but it would not be enough as AAMU would secure the 13-12 decision.
