Alabama A&M Men’s Tennis Falls By 4-0 Score To Alabama State In SWAC Tournament Semifinals

NEW ORLEANS, La. – No. 4 seed Alabama A&M (4-14, 2-3 SWAC) fell by a 4-0 score against No. 1 seed Alabama State (11-6, 5-0 SWAC) in the league semifinals and a NCAA Division I men's tennis match on Saturday, April 23.
 
The Hornets took the early lead in doubles as senior Rodrigo Arana Rios (Playa Del Carmen, Mexico) and junior Cheng Chang (Koahsiung, Taiwan) fell to Matis Amier and David Grandinot 6-1 at No. 3 before freshman Freddie Lawrence and junior German Ruiz Crespo (Mollina, Spain) were defeated by a 6-2 decision by Sam Bajracharya and Ruan Du Preez at No. 2.
 
After the doubles portion, ASU made their mark in singles as Ruan Du Preez defeated freshman Vence Ntcha 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 before freshman Divesh Gahlot (Haryana, India) fell to David Grandinot 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4.
 
Freshman Matis Torres Ramis (Mallorca, Spain) was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Matis Amier at No. 5 and the Hornets closed out the victory.
 
This ends the Bulldogs 2022 season with an overall 4-14 record and a 2-3 conference mark that was good for the No. 4 seed.
