JACKSON, Miss. – Coming off their first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) loss of the year, Alabama A&M (6-10, 2-1 SWAC) men's basketball will play look to split the road trip to as they take on Jackson State (3-12, 2-0 SWAC) on Monday, January 9. Tip-off inside the Williams Athletic & Assembly Center is set for 7:30 p.m.

The loss on Saturday against Alcorn State came after a pair of SWAC wins by the Bulldogs to start the month. They will also look to defeat Jackson State for the second straight time, as they won a 60-58 matchup in their meeting last year inside Elmore Gymnasium (Jan. 10).

Meanwhile, the Tigers have won a pair of games to open the conference schedule after a 67-66 road win over the Braves (Jan. 2), followed by a 61-58 win over Alabama State (Jan. 7) in their lone home game so far.

- The Bulldogs rank among the top in the conference in a variety of categories, including leading the SWAC in blocks per game at 3.8, along with three-point shooting at 40.5 percent, also good for eighth nationally.
- A&M ranks second in the SWAC in assists (14.6), bench points (26.1), steals (8.8), and three-pointers made per game (7.8), as well as assist-to-turnover ratio (0.97).
- Individually, Olisa Blaise Akonobi (Abuja, Nigeria) is currently ranked in the top 50 in both blocks and blocks per game, with 28 blocks, top 40 in the country, averaging to 1.75 per game. Both stats lead the conference.
- Meanwhile, Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) is sixth in Division I in three-point percentage, shooting 48.9 (44-for-90) percent so far for the year, also leading the SWAC.
