LORMAN, Miss. | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team closed out its road trip on Sunday afternoon, dropping a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match to Alcorn State, 2-1, at Spinks Marino Casem Stadium.
Alcorn State (5-10 overall, 3-5 SWAC), who outshot the Bulldogs 9-5 in the opening half, broke the scoreless tie right before halftime as Natacia Ruiz scored on a penalty kick as the Braves grabbed a 1-0 lead.
Alabama A&M (1-14, 1-5) tied the game at 1 in the 54th minute as
Jasmine Perez-Acosta assisted on
Isabelle Bernier's goal.
The Bulldogs were just 20 seconds away from picking up one point with the tie, but disappointment struck as Ha'Teya Holloman scored off an assist by Charlie Bal as the Braves escaped with the 2-1 victory.
