HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Two Alabama A&M University student-athletes were selected to the College Football Network HBCU All-American College Football Team and one earned HBCU BOXTOROW All-America.
Offensive tackle Carl Vinson and defensive back
Emari Pait were named to the College Football Network HBCU All-American Second Team, while return specialist
Terrell Gardner was selected honorable mention to the HBCU BOXTOROW All-America Team.
Vinson anchored one of the best offensive lines in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). He helped the Bulldogs offense average 374.6 yards per game, including 221.1 yards per game in the air. His play helped Alabama A&M to tops in the conference in red zone offense.
Pait, an Aeneas Williams Award Semifinalist, tallied 49 tackles, including 31 solo stops. He finished with 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two pass breakups. The Culver City, Calif. native, who was an All-SWAC second-team selection, ranked third in nation and tops in the conference in fumbles recovered and 13
th in the FCS, while second in the SWAC in interceptions per game.
Gardner, who earned All-SWAC First Team honors as a return specialist, finished fourth in the FCS and tops in the conference in punt returns and punt return touchdowns. He fielded 14 punt returns for 222 yards, averaging 15.9 yards per return. The Birmingham, Ala. native capped off a 51-13 win in the Louis Crews Classic against Lane College with a 69-yard punt return. He received the SWAC Specialist of the Week honor and FedEx Ground FCS Specialist of the Week Honorable Mention selection.
