KNOXVILLE, Tenn. __ Alabama A&M baseball fell in their final meeting against No. 3 Tennessee, 23-1, in the second of two midweek matchups between the programs at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Wednesday.

The Volunteers got on the board early with an RBI single in the opening inning, followed by a pair of runs in the bottom of the second and three more in the third for an early 6-0 lead.

Miles Jackson (Atlanta, Ga.) started the top half of the fifth with a triple to center field, giving the Bulldogs their first runner in scoring position for the game. Later in the frame,
Jalen Ford (Birmingham, Ala.) recorded a bunt single, bringing home Jackson for the lone run for A&M.

The Vols added runs on their next two chances at the plate, including breaking the game open in the bottom of the fifth before adding two final scores in the sixth for the win.

Seven pitchers saw action for the Bulldogs, as
Anthony Mateo (Lynn, Miss.) started the ball game, working one inning and striking out two Tennessee batters.

He was followed by
Tyler Campbell (Albuquerque, N.M.),
Brett Parker (Elkmont, Ala.),
Terence Sales (Stone Mountain, Ga.), and
Kobe Stokes (San Antonio, Texas) who all. Worked an inning on the mound, while
Jason Garcia (Miami, Fla.) and
Dustin Hernandez (Rayne, La.) also making appearances out of the bullpen.

The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend as they look to compete in the MLB Andre Dawson Classic where they will face Prairie View A&M, Grambling State, and Southern in a three-day span all inside of Maestri Field on the campus of the University of New Orleans.
