Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's basketball (9-11, 7-3 SWAC) rebounded after last weekend with a home win over Southern, 60-50, outscoring the Jaguars 20-8 in the third on Saturday afternoon inside the Event Center.

Southern led the game for the first seven minutes of play before a pair of free throws from
Toni Grace (Fishers, Ind.) put A&M up 12-11.
Darian Burgin (Cincinnati, Ohio) followed with a fast break score on the next possession, helping the Bulldogs maintain a 19-18 lead going into the second.

Both teams' offensive production slowed in the second, scoring just 11 and seven points respectively, giving the Jaguars a 29-26 advantage at half.

A&M took control in the third, holding Southern to just four field goals in the period. The Bulldogs forced six turnovers and outscored the opposing bench 11-0 on their way to gaining a 46-37 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs gained their first double figure lead early in the period after a score from Grace to put them up 48-37 and held on for the remainder, extending the lead to as many as 13 at one point before finishing the game with the 60-50 win.

Grace led the way offensive for A&M with 19 points and shooting 7-for-11 from the field, followed by
Amiah Simmons (Osawatomie, Kan.) who finished with 15 points and four rebounds on the day.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs finished with shooting splits of 42.1 (24-for-57) percent from the floor, 17.6 (3-for-17) percent from deep, and 69.2 (9-for-13) percent from the free throw line. They also outscored Southern in bench points (26-21), points in the paint (42-34), and points off turnovers (17-10) in the win.
