HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M combined to score seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings to overcome a six-run deficit and went on to beat the University of Tennessee-Martin 8-7 Tuesday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
The win, A&M's second straight, lifted the Bulldogs to 10-9 on the season. UT-Martin fell to 5-17.
The Bulldogs trailed 7-1 midway through the seventh inning before battling back.
Mekhi Lloyd singled to open the inning, then stole second and later advanced to third.
Chandler Stocking walked, but was caught stealing, but Lloyd stole home to make it 7-2.
Tommy Easley reached on an error and
Jared Tribett singled to put runners on first and second. One out later,
Jalen Parker walked to load the bases.
Brycen Hammonds doubled to score Easley and Tribett to pull the Bulldogs within 7-4.
CJ Mervilus's two-run single scored Parker and Hammonds to make it 7-6.
After retiring UT-Martin in order to open the eighth, A&M loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning.
Christian Soto was hit by a pitch that allowed Lloyd to score to tie the game at 7-7.
Blake Martin's sacrifice fly, which proved to be the game-winning run, scored Stocking to make it 8-7.
The Bulldogs retired the Skyhawks in order in the ninth to seal the victory.
Martin went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead A&M's offensive attack. Lloyd (Decatur, GA), Tribett, Parker, Hammonds, and Mervilus all had one hit each. Hammonds and Mervilus also had two RBI in the contest.
Lloyd and Stocking scored two runs each, while Easley, Tribett, Parker and Hammonds scored one apiece.
Terence Sales picked up the win and improved to 1-0 on the season. He allowed no runs on one hit in three innings. He walked one and struck out two.

The Bulldogs will hit the road this weekend as they return to conference play with a three-game series against Florida A&M starting on Friday.
