JACKSON, Miss. – Alabama A&M's softball team dropped their second straight game with a loss to Jackson State to start a three-game weekend series. After gaining an early lead, the Bulldogs struggled offensively throughout the contest in the 11-3 defeat.
Five separate batters recorded hits in the game, with
Faith Cross and
Taylor Woods being responsible for driving in all three runs.
Sydney Hall took the loss in the circle with 3.0 innings of work, allowing ten runs on seven hits and striking out three.
Paige Scott pitched an inning in relief and allowing one run off two hits.
The Bulldogs got on the board first in the matchup with a solo home run from senior
Taylor Woods in the top of the second inning.

Jackson State took their first lead with three runs in the bottom of the frame behind a pair of RBI singles. After a score from A&M to tie the game at 3-3, The Tigers broke the game open in the third with a seven-run inning to lead 10-3, before their final score in the fourth.

Seven different batters earned hits from Jackson State, with Jalia Hubbard and Samiyyah Huckabee earning two each. Maccie Kuppenbender picked up the win in the circle, however Marissa Medina also saw action.

The series will continue Saturday, as the programs meet for game two at the JSU Softball Field at 1 p.m.
