NEW ORLEANS, La. – Alabama A&M men's tennis fell to Jackson State 4-2 in the semifinal round of the SWAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
Jackson State got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point, as
Arnav Pathange and
Divesh Gahlot fell 6-2 to Raul Centeno and Carlos Castillo at No. 3, while
Vence N'Tcha and
German Ruiz Crespo also fell 6-2 to Gokalp Ayar and Richy Gamo.
Yin Chih Lan and
Chetanna Amadike led 5-4 in their pairing as play suspended.
Gahlot dropped the first singles match of the match at court three by scores of 6-4, 6-1, before a pair of wins by the Bulldogs to come within a point at 3-2.
The first singles win of the day came from Pathange on court five, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win, before Amadike defeated Gamo 6-2, 7-5 on court four.
The Tigers responded with wins at No. 1 and No. 6 respectively, as N'Tcha dropped a 6-3, 6-4 battle followed by
Freddie Lawrence falling in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 0-6).
