NEW ORLEANS, La. – Alabama A&M women's tennis fell in the semifinal round against No. 1 seed Florida A&M 4-0 on Saturday morning to be eliminated from the SWAC Tennis Tournament, held at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (21-14) were swept in the contest that started with dropping the doubles point.
Neha Ghare and
Alicia Owegi fell 6-1 to Veronica Rodriguez and Rebekkah Gaines at No. 3, before
Yana Dhamija and
Jasmine Boyd fell to Sierra Sandy and Sara Rakim by a score of 6-4. Meanwhile,
Camila Ruiz Diaz and
Ariadna Ondo Cerezo fell 7-5 at No. 2.
Momentum remained the same in singles play, as Genesis Whitelock defeated Dhamija 6-2, 6-2 on court five, followed by Owegi falling to Reagan Harris 6-4, 6-1 on court six.
Play was concluded on court three, with Ruiz Diaz also falling in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 for the 4-0 game.
