THE HILL | The Alabama A&M women's basketball team (1-2) are set to host the Kansas City Roos (2-2) on Tuesday at 11 a.m. for Education Day. All K-12 classrooms are invited to attend, and fans are encouraged to dress as Dr. Seuss Characters.
Alabama A&M looks for its first home victory after dropping a 74-67 battle to UAB a week ago. Four Bulldogs found themselves in double figures in the contest, paced by senior Lauryn Pendleton's 14 points. Darian Burgin contributed 13 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Kalia Walker added 13 points and two steals while Kourtney Rittenberry tallied 11 points and three steals. Alisha Wilson led the Bulldogs defensively, nabbing nine rebounds and three steals in addition to her nine points
Kansas City also looks to get back into the winning column after falling 62-43 to Western Illinois last week. Sophomore Emani Bennett paced the Roos with 12 points and seven rebounds, followed by 12 points, six rebounds and three steals. Ana Oliveira Dias led the team in steals with six.
AAMU and UMKC have met just once before, during the 2023-24 season where the Roos emerged victorious, 57-52 in Kansas City. UMKC is the only Summit League team that AAMU has faced off against, while the Roos are 9-3 against members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) .
