AAMU Returns to Action with Road Trip to Chattanooga

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team returns to action after being off for two weeks as the Bulldogs will play three games in six games, starting on Sunday at Chattanooga. Tip-off against the Mocs is set for 1 p.m. (central time) from McKenzie Arena and streamed on ESPN+.
 
Alabama A&M (4-5) played nine games in the opening month, including seven at the AAMU Event Center. The Bulldogs are looking to return to the win column for the first time since a 77-70 victory in the Bulldog Bash against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23.
 
Since the win over the Chanticleers, Alabama A&M has dropped two straight, with losses to IU Indy and Lipscomb. 
 
Alabama A&M is averaging 79.7 points per game and shooting nearly 43 percent from the field. 
 
The Bulldogs are tops in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in assists per game (15.6), free-throw attempts per game (22.9), offensive rebounds per game (15.44), rebounds per game (39.7) and turnovers forced per game (18.6). AAMU also ranks second nationally in turnovers forced per game and eighth in offensive rebounds per game.
 
Chad Moodie leads two Bulldog players in double figures at 13.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. AC Bryant is second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points and 3.7 boards.
 
Chattanooga (6-4) has won five out of its past six games, including a 75-67 victory on Thursday night at Evansville.
 
Against the Purple Aces, the Mocs shot 50 percent from the floor and just over 46 percent from beyond the 3-point line and used a dominate first half to cruise to the road win. Trey Bonham led the offense with 22 points, along with four 3-pointers, while Frank Champion and Honor Huff each added 12 points.
 
Chattanooga is shooting 43.8 percent from the field and averaging 72.7 points per game.
 
Bonham paces three Mocs in double figures, averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Bash Wieland and Huff are averaging 12.9 and 10.6 points, respectively.
 
The matchup with the Bulldogs is the only SWAC opponent Chattanooga will face this season.
 
After the trip to Chattanooga, Alabama A&M will visit UAB on Wednesday, followed by a home game against Samford on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the AAMU Event Center.
