HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama A&M University Assistant AD for Athletics Communications, Brian Howard, announced on Monday the addition of Aliyah McDaniel as the new assistant SID.
 
"I am absolutely thrilled to add Aliyah to the athletics communications staff," Howard said. "She is a tremendous young talent, who spent three years as an intern at the University of Kentucky and brings a lot of energy and excitement to Alabama A&M University. I look for great things as we continue to elevate this athletics communications department."
 
McDaniel will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, women's soccer, bowling, women's basketball, softball and men's and women's tennis. In addition, she will be the secondary contact for football.
 
"I am truly honored and excited to join the AAMU Athletics program and am incredibly grateful to be a part of such a dynamic department and culture," McDaniel said. "I am eager to contribute to the success of our programs and look forward to all the opportunities ahead. I am equally enthusiastic for the chance to grow within an environment that values excellence and dedication both academically and athletically."
 
McDaniel joins the Bulldog family from the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies in 2022. She continued her education at UK, earning her Master's of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion with a specialization in Sport Leadership in December 2023. She also obtained a Certificate of Diversity, as well as a certificate of Sport, Fitness, and Recreation Management from the university.
 
While a student at Kentucky, McDaniel worked as an intern in the Athletics Communication and Public Relations department. She worked with various sports across the program, including swimming and diving, tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and rifle.
 
In addition to her role with UK Athletics Communication, Aliyah worked with the UK Athletics Hospitality, Premium Seating and Events department for football and basketball. McDaniel also served as a media volunteer at the 2022 SEC Football Media Days, 2022 SEC Basketball Media Days and 2023 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament.
 
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, McDaniel is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) by way of the Bluegrass Chapter in Lexington, Ky.
