THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's bowling team opens competition this weekend at the Penguin Classic in Struthers, Ohio, hosted by Youngstown State University. 
 
The Bulldogs aim to showcase their balance and competitive spirit against a strong field as they look to set the tone early in their 2025 campaign.
 
Rose Ugbinada, an All-SWAC Second Team selection, leads the team as the captain, and her consistency anchors the lineup. She's joined by graduate student Anya Nelson, seniors Alexis Orchard and Megan Whorton, junior Nila Dulcio, sophomores Samantha Mason, Moriah Mixon and Jackson State transfer Thalia Nelson, and freshmen Simone Guyton and Michele Westmorland. With depth across every class, Alabama A&M enters the tournament confident and ready to compete.
 
The Bulldogs are building off last season's success, including two tournament victories and a first-place finish at the SWAC West Roundup. The Bulldogs are focused on maintaining that championship standard and achieving even greater accomplishments this season.
 
After this weekend at the Penguin Classic, Alabama A&M will return to action Oct. 24-26 as the Bulldogs will compete in the Destination Orlando Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
