YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio | The Alabama A&M University women's bowling team wrapped up the final two days of play at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic on Saturday and Sunday as the Bulldogs finished the weekend 2-11 overall and 16
th at the Holiday Bowl.
On Saturday, Alabama A&M competed against No. 11 Sacred Heart, Lewis, No. 20 Wright State, Mercyhurst and Saint Anselm.
In the opening match, the Bulldogs shot their highest traditional game in a 1,000-911 loss to Sacred Heart as
Alexis Orchard posted the highest pinfall with a 205. In the 885-844 loss to Lewis,
Rose Ugbinada led AAMU with a 215. Against Wright State, AAMU fell, 1,034-828 as
Simone Guyton rolled a team-high 190, and in the 907-871 loss to Mercyhurst,
Nila Dulcio posted a 192.
Alabama A&M closed out the day with its first win of the season with an 849-814 victory over Saint Anselm as Dulici rolled a team-high 185.
In individual scoring, Ugbinada averaged a 189.4 to finish in 34
th place, and Dulcio averaged a 185.6 to finish in 43
rd place.
On the final day, AAMU competed against Western Illinois and Saint Anselm in the best 4 out of 7 baker games to conclude tournament play.
Alabama A&M lost the opener to Western Illinois, 4-3, but backed back with a 4-1 victory over Saint Anselm, posting the highest baker game of the day at 223.
In their last matchup of the day, the Bulldogs fell short again to Western Illinois, 4-2.
Alabama A&M will return to action Oct. 24-26 at the Destination Orlando Invitational (Orland, Fla.) at SKY Lanes.
