BLOOMINGTON, Ind. | Louis Hutchinson scored 15 points, but it wasn't enough to stop hot-shooting Indiana as the Alabama A&M University men's basketball fell to the Hoosier, 91-58, on Wednesday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Hutchinson was a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field, including 4-for-4 from three-point range to pace the Bulldogs with 15 points.
Kintavious Dozier added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while
Koron Davis chipped in seven points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Indiana (1–0) came out strong behind a balanced attack, shooting 62.1 percent (36-for-58) from the floor and 41.7 percent (10-for-24) from beyond the arc.
The Hoosiers were led by Reed Bailey with 21 points and five rebounds, while Tucker DeVries posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Lamar Wilkerson and Sam Alexis added 19 and 17 points, respectively, to round out a quartet of double-figure scorers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (1-1) battled through an early run after Davis scored the Bulldogs' first bucket to take a 2–0 lead, but Indiana responded with a 14–0 spurt, taking advantage of a cold shooting spell by AAMU, and took control midway through the first half.
The Hoosiers built a 58–22 halftime lead and maintained their efficiency throughout the second frame, outscoring Alabama A&M 40–29 after the break.
Despite the deficit, the Bulldogs found offensive rhythm in the second half, shooting 40 percent from the field and 45.5 percent (5-for-11) from long range.
