Bulldogs Gear Up for Louisiana Road Trip

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team closes out its regular season with a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games inside the State of Louisiana as the Bulldogs visit Grambling State on Thursday and Southern on Saturday.
 
Alabama A&M and Grambling State will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. from the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center as the game will be streamed on the SWAC Digital Network. The Bulldogs will conclude the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Baton Rouge, La. to face Southern, as tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
 
Alabama A&M (10-19 overall, 6-10 SWAC) is looking to avoid a season sweep to Grambling State as the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs, 72-61 nearly a month ago. GSU is seeking its first sweep in the series since the 2023 season.
 
The Bulldogs, who are just 2-10 on the road this season, enter the game having dropped two out of their last three games, including a 94-52 loss at rival Alabama State on Saturday. 
 
Chad Moodie was the lone AAMU player to post double figures, finishing with 11 points, against the Hornets.
 
Alabama A&M is averaging 74.9 points per game and shooting nearly 41.0 percent from the field. 
 
The Bulldogs rank third nationally in turnovers forced per game, sixth offensive rebounds per game and 10thin bench points.
 
AC Bryant paces the Bulldog offense at 14.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while Moodie is averaging 11.1 points, 6.0 boards, 1.8 blocks and 1.4 assists per contest.
 
Grambling State (9-20, 6-10) are the defending conference tournament champions and will enter Thursday's game riding a three-game losing streak, with the last victory coming on Feb. 17 to Prairie View A&M.
 
The Tigers boast a 5-6 record at home and will close out the season against Alabama A&M and Alabama State.
 
GSU returns home having traveled to Florida, falling to Florida A&M, 73-68, on Saturday and Bethune-Cookman, 78-71, on Monday.
 
Against the Wildcats, James Flippin posted a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Kintavious Dozier added 18 points in the loss.
 
Dozier leads three Tiger players in double figures at 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Antwan Burnett is averaging 11.2 points, 5.7 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals, while Mikale Stevenson is posting 10.8 points, 4.2 boards, 3.9 assists and 1.8 steals.
 
Grambling State is shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and averaging 67.5 points per game.
 
After Thursday night's tilt, Alabama A&M will close out the regular season on Saturday against Southern. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. from the F.G. Clark Activity Center and streamed on the Jaguar Sports Network.
