BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University Assistant AD for Athletic Communications, Brian Howard, has been chosen to serve as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Sports Information Directors Committee Chairperson, the conference announced on Friday. The honor was voted upon the league's sports information directors and is a two-year term, beginning in the 2025-26 season.
 
Howard, who has been an advocate and leader within the SWAC, serves as a veteran among athletic communications and sports information staffs, boasting more than 19 years in the profession, including nearly 15 years at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
 
"I am extremely excited to be named as the SID Committee Chairperson," Howard said. "This is a testament of the hard work and dedication I have within the profession. In addition, it is the relationships I have built during the process, and I look forward to continuing to help brand this outstanding institution and conference."
 
Howard earned back-to-back Black College Nines Baseball Sports Information Director of the Year honors during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Also, he serves as the only SWAC representative on two College Sports Communicators committees – NCAA Division I Cabinet and Advocacy Committee.
