THE HILL | It was a blistering hot day inside Louis Crews Stadium on Saturday as the Alabama A&M University football team concluded fall camp with the annual Maroon & White scrimmage.
While the second scrimmage provided those enduring the heat the first look at the Bulldogs this season, it was a slow start by the offense. But on a day where the offense struggled at times, the big plays delivered a powerful punch to cap the annual scrimmage.
The big highlight came during the second half of the scrimmage where
Isaiah Nwokenkwo broke free down the left sideline for a 90-yard touchdown. That wasn't the only excitement as
JD Davis II connected with
Jaden Gresham for a 53-yard touchdown strike.
"This was our second scrimmage, and we definitely had some improvement from the first one," Alabama A&M head coach
Sam Shade said. "We had some guys step up in some areas. For the most part, I thought the offense did some good things, particularly in the running game."
The scrimmage closes out fall camp, with the coaching staff starting to prepare for the season opener in two weeks.
"We start getting into game prep on Monday," Shade said. "We'll start installing for Arkansas, offense and defense. Our total focus starting on Monday will be for Arkansas."
