THE HILL | Alabama A&M University head women's basketball coach Dawn Thornton announced on Thursday the 2025-26 schedule, which features a home showdown against a Southeastern Conference opponent for the second consecutive season.
It was an outstanding season a year ago as the women's program continued to set new heights at Alabama A&M.
The Bulldogs won an NCAA Division I-program best 21 games and finished tied for second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) at 14-4. AAMU accepted a bid to the WNIT, the first in program history.
Alabama A&M will be looking to repeat that success from a year ago and coach Thornton is excited to build another excellent schedule.
"Our 2025–26 women's basketball schedule was built to test us early and prepare us for the battles of SWAC play," Thornton said. "The preseason gives us a chance to grow against tough competition and figure out who we are before conference starts. Those games matter because they get us ready for the intensity that comes with SWAC basketball.
I'm proud of the women I coach. They come from different places, with different stories, and together they represent the strength and diversity of our program and our community. That is what makes this team 45 so special. And I'm grateful for Bulldog Nation, our fans, students, alumni, and families, who always show up for us. With their support, I believe we can make this a season to remember as we compete for a championship and make history again."
Alabama A&M begins the season with an exhibition game as the Bulldogs play host to UAH in the return of the Mayor's Cup.
The regular tips off with back-to-back home games, starting on Nov. 5 against Talladega. For the second consecutive season, AAMU will welcome an SEC opponent to the Event Center as Ole Miss comes to The Hill on Nov. 7.
The Bulldogs play their next five games away from home, with trips to UAB (Nov. 12), Alabama (Nov. 17) and Nevada (Nov. 21), along with competing in the Naples Tournament (Nov. 28-29) during the Thanksgiving weekend.
Alabama A&M opens December with a home game against Tuskegee (Dec. 4), before visiting Big Ten opponent Minnesota on Dec. 10. The Bulldogs welcome North Alabama to the AAMU Event Center for the final home game of 2025 on Dec. 17. The Maroon & White close out the year on Dec. 20 at Richmond.
