THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team returns to action on Monday as the Bulldogs take on rival Alabama State in the annual Bridge Builder Classic.
 
Tip-off for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game is set for 4 p.m. from the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. and will be streamed on SWAC TV.
 
Alabama A&M enters the contest off a 100-91 victory last Monday (Jan. 12) against Jackson State. The 100 points scored against a SWAC opponent was the first time AAMU had achieved that feat since 2006.
 
Alabama State ended a two-game losing streak last Monday with an 81-66 victory over Alcorn State at home.

Alabama A&M is averaging just over 70 points per game and shooting 42.2 percent from the floor.

Asjon Anderson paces the Alabama State offense at 18.4 points, 3.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, while Micah Simpson is posting 14.5 points, 3.4 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals.
 
Alabama State leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game, while Jerquarius Stanbeck is 20^th in the nation in blocks and 22^nd in blocks per game.
 
Series History
This will be the 96^th meeting between the two programs as Alabama State leads the all-time series, 66-29.
 
The Hornets have won three out of the last four matchups against the Bulldogs, with Alabama A&M's last victory coming in 2024 (58-53 in Huntsville).
