HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Fans and alumni attending Alabama A&M University's Homecoming game against Grambling State on Saturday will be treated to a special military flyover conducted by aviation teams from the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC).
Â
Headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, RTC is a subordinate command of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC). RTC plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on developmental tests for Army aviation systems, missiles, sensors, and allied technologies. Its vital mission ensures that soldiers and warfighters receive equipment that is safe, reliable, and lethal on the modern battlefield.
Â
Because of rigorous testing schedules and operational mission demands, RTC conducts only a select number of community flyovers across the Tennessee Valley each year. RTC aviators and support personnel welcome opportunities like Alabama A&M's Homecoming to support the local Huntsville community, demonstrate tactical aviation capabilities, and honor the university's students, faculty, and alumni.
Â
The flyover formation will feature three Army aircraft: one MD-530 helicopter and two UH-60 Black Hawk utility helicopters.
Â
- UH-60M Black Hawk: Pilots MAJ Beau Carroll (AMC) and MAJ Lance Randles; Crew Members Colin Mckeand and Phillip McRae.
- UH-60L Black Hawk: Pilots CW4 Craig Wenkheimer and CW3 Kyle Gaylor; Crew Members Kelsie Roberts and SSG Tyler Eschete.
- MD-530 Helicopter: Pilots LTC Dan Brown and CW3 Tyler Pollard.
- Ground Control (RTO): CPT Jacob Browning.
Â
Kickoff between Alabama A&M and Grambling State is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the Homecoming contest televised live on SWAC TV.
