BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's basketball senior guard Aniya Palmer has been named to the 2026-27 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team, the Southwestern Athletic Conference announced Monday.
Palmer enters her senior season following a productive 2025-26 campaign in which she appeared in all 33 games for the Lady Bulldogs, averaging 7.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the field.
The 6-foot-1 guard recorded several standout performances throughout the season, including a season-high 16 points against Florida A&M on March 11 and a season-best 16 rebounds against Mississippi Valley State on January 1. Palmer also recorded a season-high four assists against Mississippi Valley State, four steals against Grambling State and three blocks during the 2025-26 campaign.
Palmer was one of five student-athletes selected to the Preseason All-SWAC Second Team, joining Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Khaniah Gardner, Southern's Jocelyn Tate, Alabama State's Charlese McClendon and Caylee Simpson.
A native of LaGrange, Ga., Palmer transferred to Alabama A&M after beginning her collegiate career at Georgia State. She enters the 2026-27 season as one of the Lady Bulldogs' veteran contributors and will look to build on last year's production as Alabama A&M prepares to compete among the SWAC's top teams.
Southern's Jocelyn Tate was selected as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Indiya Bowen earned Preseason Player of the Year honors.
