HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's bowler
Rose Ugbinada averaged a 203.0 pinfall and leads the field during the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Regional on Friday at the AMF Pin Palace Lanes.
Ugbinada rolled 200 or more in two of the five matches, including a 269 against Alabama State.
Alexis Orchard sits sixth after the opening day with a 183.6 and
Michele Westmorland is 13
th, posting a 174.8 and
Nila Dulcio is 16
th (172.6).
Alabama A&M went 3-2 on Friday and is tied for third with Alabama State. Jackson State went undefeated (5-0) and leads by one match over Florida A&M (4-1). Prairie View A&M (2-3), Southern (2-3), Texas Southern (1-4) and Grambling State (0-5) rounded out the eight-team field.
The Bulldogs opened the day with an 880-511 victory over Grambling State, but dropped the second match to Texas Southern, 922-892. AAMU bounced back in the third match, defeating rival Alabama State, 962-757, but fell in the fourth to Florida A&M, 900-881. The Bulldogs wrapped up play with an 854-831 victory over Southern.
