THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team returns to the road as the Bulldogs visit Southern and Grambling State in a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games this weekend.
Tip-off for Saturday's game at Southern is set for 5 p.m. from the F.G. Clark Activity Center in Baton Rouge, La. and streamed on the Jaguar Sports Network, while Monday's game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center and streamed on SWAC TV.
Alabama A&M returns to the road having split the two home games against Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. The Bulldogs saw its two-game winning streak snapped on Monday with an 80-62 home loss to BCU.
Southern, 5-2 at home, got back into the win column on Monday night by outlasting Jackson State, 96-91, in overtime.
Grambling State, 5-1 at home this season, will play host to Alabama State on Saturday before welcoming AAMU to the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on Monday. The Tigers have won two consecutive games, including a 74-50 win at Alcorn State last Monday.
Bulldogs at a Glance
Alabama A&M comes into the weekend averaging 71.0 points and shooting 42.6 percent.
Kintavious Dozier leads three AAMU players in double figures at 15.6 points, while
Koron Davis and
Sami Pissis is averaging 14.0 and 12.1 points, respectively.
Alabama A&M ranks first in the conference in numerous categories, including field goal percentage defense, rebound margin, defensive rebounds per game and turnovers per game, while

The Jaguars are averaging just over 80.0 points and shooting 45.4 percent from the floor.
Michael Jacobs paces the Jaguar offense at 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals, while Malek Abdelgowad and DaMariee Jones are posting 12.0 and 10.3 points per game.
Southern leads the SWAC in numerous categories, including assist/turnover ratio, bench points per game, rebounds per game, scoring margin, scoring offense and steals per game.
Scouting Grambling State
The Wildcats are shooting 45.0 percent from the floor and averaging 72.2 points per game.
Antonio Munoz paces three GSU players in double figures at 12.3 points. Derrius Ward and Jamil Muttilib are averaging 10.8 and 10.7 points, respectively.
Grambling State leads the conference in scoring defense and three-point percentage defense.
Southern Series History
This will be the 54
th meeting between the two programs as Southern leads the all-time series, 33-20.
The Jaguars, who are 19-6 at home lifetime versus AAMU, have won three out of the past four meetings, including sweeping the season series last year. The last AAMU victory came on March 9, 2024 – a 66-56 win in Huntsville.
Grambling State Series History
This will be the 47
th meeting between the two programs as Grambling State leads the all-time series, 25-21.
The Tigers have won four straight and six out of the last seven games. The last AAMU victory in the series was a 60-50 victory on Feb. 12, 2024 in Grambling, La. The Bulldogs are 8-14 in games play at GSU.
