Alexis Orchard took over the top spot on Saturday during the second day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Regional at the AMF Pin Palace Lanes.
Orchard has three 200-plus games and 1,898 total pinfall through 10 matches. She is averaging a 189.8 to sit in the top spot, while teammate
Rose Ugbinada, the leader after Day 1, is fifth, averaging a 186.9 total pinfall.
Nila Dulcio is 13
th at 172.1, while
Michele Westmorland is 15
th, with a 171.1.
Alabama A&M (5-5) went 2-3 during the second day and is fifth entering Sunday's final round. Jackson State remained unbeaten at 10-0, while Alabama State, Texas Southern and Florida A&M are 6-4. Southern (4-6), Prairie View A&M (3-7) and Grambling State (0-10) rounded out the eight-team field.
The Bulldogs began the day with an 822-794 victory over Prairie View A&M, but dropped the second match to Jackson State, 870-851. AAMU bounced back in the third match, defeating Grambling State, 869-606. Alabama A&M closed out the day with back-to-back losses to Texas Southern (903-865) and Alabama State (982-875).
